Meeting Reminder

Hello everyone!  A quick reminder about the Guild Meeting to be held this Thursday.  Cindy and friends will be at the Old Firehall for a  UFO DAY starting at 10:00.

I am very excited for the evening meeting which is taking place at 7:00.  I get to reveal the final set of mystery instructions.  I have been busy trying to get mine done so I can have something to show you.  Here is a peak at my 57 blocks to date.

Also our challenges are due!  I got a preview of two of them and they were amazing, and so different that I can't wait to see the rest!  If you used a special tool please bring it to show, and be prepared to share why you did what you did.

The other reveal is if our handmade name tags.  It isn't too late to start one, just ask me how I know!

And don't forget to bring any other show and tell you may have!

Looking forward to the meeting!

Some Inspiration for You

Hello ladies!  Just a little over a week before those pesky challenges are due.  I came across this blog post from Karen at Sew Karen-ly Created out in Nova Scotia that might inspire you.  She quilts this piece entirely with her walking foot and it looks amazing.

Your can find her here.  Can't wait to see your challenges next week... guess I should put some binding on mine!

Clarification

Kathy & I have both had the same questions about the latest set of Mystery Quilt instructions.  Kathy clarifies things on the North Star Quilt Guild blog here.  If you are working on the smaller sized quilt, you will have 42 of everything leftover, instead of 64.  Keep on working on those instructions.  I am very excited to reveal the final part of the mystery on May 2nd!  And as always if you have any other questions feel free to call me.

April Show and Tell

First a bit of business, the UFO Day that was scheduled for this Saturday April 13, has been CANCELLED due to lack of committed attendance.  We hope for a better turn out next time.

If you weren't at the meeting last night you missed some great show and tell.  Here are the highlights. Sorry if I missed anyone - sometimes I am too busy looking and forget to snap a picture!  I wish the quality of the pictures was better, but the lighting is the Old Fire Hall makes this tricky!

Marion was the lucky winner of the Disappearing 4 patch blocks.  This was our last comfort block until after the quilt show in the fall.

This is Karen's rail fence/pinwheel combo.  I don't have the exact pattern name, but it sure is effective.

And Karen was busy using up some bright scraps.  Check out her gorgeous meandering feathers that were quilted all over this one.

This is Sandra's quilt that was done as a mystery project in Flin Flon a couple of years ago.  Her modern fabrics are much more vibrant than this picture shows.

This is Pat's unique table runner that she made in a class down south when we were freezing up here.  We think she should teach a class up here for us!  I think I found the pattern is this book.

And she is ever stylish in a very cool batik scarf.

Karen made this cheerful table topper.

Jackie and her cool grommet bag.

Sherry took a silk screening class and made this table runner.  The colors were so rich in person!

Don't forget your challenges are due next month. Those packages sure sold fast in the fall, I hope we see lots of projects next month.  Don't forget to bring the new to you pattern/tool you used and to tell us a little a little about the story behind your project.

The final step of the mystery will be revealed as well.  Can't wait for the May meeting.  Happy quilting.

Reminder!

Just a quick reminder to everyone that our April Meeting is postponed one week until April 11.  Theatre Amisk is using the entire Watson Arts Centre for their production of Fiddler on the Roof.  Hopefully some of you will be coming to see the show!

See you next week,

Lori
