November 1, 2018 Guild Show & Tell

Stephanie repurposed some of her husbands shirts for this quilt top. Great job.

Reneta made this darling Dr. Suess Quarter Section quilt.

Cute kitty pillow was a swap gift.

Reneta's pumpkin patch quilt has some darling hidden quilting designs in it courtesy of Night Owl Quilting.

Amy shared some of her swap gifts, cute pillow and a reversible bag.

Gloria has worked long and hard on this this great spool quilt. 
Done from start to finish by her own hand.

Karen did a great job on this  "Traction" quilt. a pattern by Highway 10 Designs.

Always need some handy bags.

The next four quilts are some of the ones finished for our large donation being handed out in December 2018.

This quilt was a guild project. Members donated 2" strips of batik fabrics
and we fashioned this quilt following designs of  Cathy Geier. 
It ill be a donation to a local business in the near future.

October 4, 2018 Crocus Quilt Guild Show & Tell

Sorry I'm late in posting these pictures.  The first 4 pictures are guild comfort quilts and then the show and tell pictures are the remainder.  As always everyone is keeping busy and it's great to see new projects come in each month.

September 22, 2018 UFO Day

Our guild had our monthly UFO day today held at the Watson Arts Centre Old Fire Hall.   Some members worked on their own projects but many were helping with some guild quilts.  We have an upcoming donation that requires 26 large lap quilts.  We are well on the way already having about 3/4 of the quilts completed.

For the month of October the WAC has many of our guild members quilts adorning the walls of the gallery, green room and the fire hall. If you are in Dauphin stop by and take a look. WAC hours are noon to 5pm Monday to Friday.

September 6, 2018 Crocus Quilters Guild Show & Tell

Bev created this scrappy braid Queen size quilt for a 1st anniversary gift.

Karen is gifting "William" a cute dinosaur quilt.

Karen made a king size quilt using metro hoops and had this colorful backing in her stash.

 

Pinwheels and 4 patch in the tiniest of blocks make this bag for a special friend.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think this is an Irish Chain  masterfully done by Joan.

Genny made a Jelly Roll quilt for a special little friend.

Lori showed a baby size quarter section in pretty pinks.

Lori jumped on the band wagon and quilted this beautiful Hoffman Dream Big Panel.

Amy created this cute kitty cushion cover for a lucky swap partner.

"Work in Progress"  Keep an eye out for this beauty when it's completed.

Reneta will be sending this Llama off to a swap partner.

Nina finished her challenge piece from the spring, you can see her sample box cover in her right hand.

This is actually Pat's creation but she gifted it to Nina.

June 7, 2018 Guild Show & Tell and Annual Challenge Reveal

Jackie shared her challenge piece as show & tell because it grew  into  a bigger project than the size specified for the challenge. 

Dawn  will be tip towing thru the tulips with this beauty.

Lorraine took part in a paper piecing workshop a while ago and put together this great wall hanging which she is giving to her son who loves birds. 

Amy quilted a comfort quilt for the guild.

Amy's Mom embroidered the white blocks and left the rest up to Amy to make it a quilt. Great job!

2018 Outside of the Box Challenge

This is your challenge, should you choose to accept it.  You have each been given a box of tissue.  You will not receive any fabric this year.  Instead, you will take your inspiration from the tissue box and make a quilted project using the colors you see.  Use your imagination to determine the pattern you will make - either traditional or modern - but the colors of the box need to be represented to a large degree.  When a section of the box is displayed alongside your challenge on reveal day, viewers need to see the similarity between the colors of your project and the box and know that was your inspiration.  Have fun.

This is the note presented to our guild members, along with a colorful tissue box, in the fall of 2017 for our annual challenge.  This is definitely a twist to our usual, but what a great idea.  You can view the completed projects that came in this month for the challenge reveal.

She has the honour of setting up the challenge for the fall of 2018, whether it be fabric or another fun challenge like this one.
