November Meeting

We had another great meeting on November 5, 2013.  We had some great news about the results of our raffle/quilt show and are happy that we did so well.  This will allow us to purchase batting and backing for our charity quilts.  Everyone is to be congratulated on a job well done.

We also had a new charity block demonstrated and distributed.  Each member is asked to make 4 blocks.  Dawn had received a call from a quilter in Brandon who has generously donated her fabric to our guild and we have used some of this fabric to distribute to our members to make the next charity quilt.  Her main wish was that we USE the fabric and this way it is going for a great use and will benefit whomever it is donated to.  Our heartfelt thanks and prayers go to this generous quilter.

Because of the business of Christmas time and because of how many people would have to miss the Christmas Party on December 5, 2013 we have decided as a group to have a New Year's Party instead.  This means our fat quarter exchange, mug rug gift, and of course the food will be held at our first meeting on January 9, 2014 instead of December.  This will also be when the charity blocks are due to be returned.

Show and tell followed and I apologize for the photos again taken only with a phone.  One of these days will buy a camera. LOL

This is Karen with a couple of her Stack N Wack placemats.  What a neat way to make coordinating placemats that are still not identical.
Karen with a winter wall hanging she made.   Beautiful blues/sparkles/icy fabrics.
Cindy with her Butterflies in the Window quilt. Butterflies were appliqued on and black bias was topstitched on between the panes.
Cindy finally finished the Log Cabin Curves which was actually started about five years ago.  She had quilted the feathers in the light portions and didn't like them and ripped them all out and did over!!!
Cindy with a baby quilt "Bubbles for Abby" made for a former co-worker's daughter who is almost a year old.  The pattern is from Benita Skinner from Victoriana Designs.
The 1/2 square triangle charity quilt pieced together by Cindy from the blocks everyone donated.  There were a few blocks left over that will make a lap quilt as well.
